What is Tyehimba?

Tyehimba is the Afrocentric Celebration designed for graduates to acknowledge their achievements. The word Tyehimba means “We Stand as a Nation,” and this celebration recognizes students and the village that have helped them reach this milestone.

Since we cannot guarantee we will be able to play specific songs while walking across the stage, we will instead utilize a playlist for your Tyehimba Graduation Celebration, created from student contributions! Please include your celebratory/energetic song title and artist below. This playlist will also be shared. Only clean versions will be played.

During the celebration, you will sit in the same order of how you will cross the stage. We will begin with Associate's Degrees, then Bachelor's Degrees, Master's Degrees, and finally Doctoral Degrees. If you plan to walk across the stage with anyone or any organization, please include that information below.
